Domaine

Our 8 ha “Domaine” is located on the plateau of the village Chateauneuf de Gadagne in Provence. Situated on the right side of the river “The Rhône”, this terroir offers a rolled pebbles soil that beneficiates from a nearly permanent exposure to sun and strong winds.

Wine has been made here already for centuries. Around the XIIth century, the popes appreciated the richness of this soil and used it to cultivate grapes and olives. Its geographical location orientated to the north wind (Mistral) makes the grape vine stronger against contaminations.

The presence of the pebbles makes it possible to store the heat of the day and to return it at night which has the effect of regulating the flowering period and provide a significant gain on maturity. Exposure to Mistral allows to limit the use of phyto-sanitary products because the strong wind quickly dries the leaves and grapes.

Our vines are older than forty years on average. Our production is reduced to 30 hl / hectare due to the age of the grape vines and the specific pruning. The grape varieties are Grenache (60%), Cinsault (20%), Syrah (10%) and Mourvedre (10%).
